Useful Websites For Learning

ICT

Some more great websites for a rainy weekend!

Classroom Goals

Here are our classroom goals. We choose our own goal each week and move our name beside it. That way Miss Cranney knows what we are working on.

The Adventures Of Clifford, the Little Red Dog!

In our class we have a mascot called Clifford. You

may recognise him.

Clifford, the Big Red Dog, and his even bigger friend, Skiwi.

Clifford can visit the homes of children in Room One

and then they write about his adventures. Last year

he went to Paris with a Sacred Heart School parent.

Reading

Letterland

Letterland is a child-friendly phonics programme which we use in Room One to learn the sounds and letter names. We cover a few new letters each week. I have sent home a sheet introducing each letter's character. The children love the activities and the programme helps with writing, spelling and handwriting development.

We have songs and poems about the letterland characters to help us remember their names, sounds and how to write them.

Writing

Getting Started

In writing we have been learning how to
  • Set up our books
  • Draw a picture plan in the picture space
  • Write only on the dotted lines
  • Leave spaces between our words
  • Start our stories with a capital letter
  • Finish with a full stop
  • Find the "key" words on our placemats
  • Write down the sounds we can hear in tricky words

Super Spelling

Here is a site for you to enter your spelling words

into each week. Once you have done so you can play

lots of games which will help you learn YOUR words!

Spelling City Games

Swimming

We have started swimming and so far we are having a great time. The children have all been assessed by their instructors and have been placed in appropriate groups. The free swim time in the splash pool is also being enjoyed by all the children.
